CareSTL Health is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to work closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer to provide administrative support and HR policy/procedure guidance per CareSTL Health policies and Workplace Success Guide.  In this role as the Human Resources Generalist, you will be responsible for performing duties to support and administer the HR Department's functional areas such as Employee Relations, HR Administration, Benefit Administration, Employee On/Off Boarding, and Employee Engagement, while also serving as the first point of contact for all general human resource related inquiries.  

A Successful Candidate:

  • Must have moderate level of skill using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must have general knowledge of HR best practices and processes.
  • Must be able to take initiative and self management.
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulation.
  • Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals as required.
  • Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in writing, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and create and interpret graphs.
  • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, etc.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills; leads by example; enjoys working with others in a collaborative, social environment; effective at building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Must have strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field. Masters degree preferred.  
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of professional experience in HR.
  • Other: Must have reliable transportation.  Registration with the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry is required.

Essential Functions:

The following information is considered the definition of essential functions but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.  The Human Resources Generalist may be reassigned duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other staffing reasons. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide HR Administrative Support
    • Provide administrative support to the Chief Human Resources Officer with administering the HR strategy.
    • Act as first point of contact for all employee related inquiries and issues, while accurately communicating HR policies and procedures to employees and management.
    • Support with coaching and advising managers on employee relations, performance management, and HR compliance issues.
    • Manage and ensure personnel files are created and maintained.
    • Manage and fulfill verifications of employment requests for active and terminated employees.
    • Update and manage the HR Drive
    • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
    • Maintain electronic and hardcopy accurate records management.
    • Maintain and Update bulletin boards and other vehicles to communicate and ensure legal compliance.
    • Assists in employee matters to include termination, separation etc.
    • Maintains employee referral program.
  •  Administer On-Boarding Program
    • Guide the on-boarding process by interfacing with new hires when needed, assist in the coordinating and confirmation of completed paperwork, and ensuring proper internal new hire setup in the time keeping and HRIS systems.
    • Process off-boarding activities including managing records, communicating terminations to IT, and returning ID card and equipment.
    • Conduct exit interviews with all departing employees and provide exit interview data.
  • Support Employee Engagement Programs
    •  Maintain assignment and completion of CareSTL Health compliance training records.
    • Assists in organizational/individual training and development efforts.
    • Conduct employee "Stay" interviews.
  •  Employee Recognition and Retention Administration
    •  Support the development and lead the Employee Engagement Team.
    • Administer CareSTL Health's recognition and appreciation programs.
    • Maintain list of birthdays and coordinates CareSTL Health anniversaries, retirements, etc.
    • Recognizes employees' personal events (i.e. marriages, births, bereavement, illnesses, hospitalizations, etc.)
  •  Provide Support with Administering CareSTL Health Performance Management Program
    •  Administer CareSTL Health's 30, 60, 90, day performance review process.
    • Conduct new employee 30 day experience interviews.
    • Provide administrative and system support with the CareSTL Health annual performance review process.
