CareSTL Health is seeking a Director of Human Resources to provide development and implementation of HR policies and procedures: training and professional development opportunities for staff at all levels across the organization; benefits administration; compensation; recruiting; orientation; and employee evaluation. Ours is a service-oriented culture and the Director of HR serves as a responsive, one-stop shop for employee inquiries while also balancing advocacy for the employee and support of the organizational goals. Other duties include recommending, formulating, and implementing policies, practices, and procedures managing the performance evaluation process and playing a strategic role in ensuring the staff members are able to conduct their work as effectively and efficiently as possible.


  • Knowledge of the rights and responsibilities of employees and applicable regulations, e.g., Equal Employment Opportunity, FMLA
  • Manage recruitment and orientation process for all new hires. This includes developing job descriptions, advertising, scheduling interviews, conducting interviews, reference checks, coordination offer of employment and welcoming new hires through new hire orientation and through orientation program logistics. Responsible for new hire workflow, including new hire and benefits processing
  • Introduce and support performance management system by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions. This includes implementation, reporting, and guidance of the merit and incentive compensation program processes, and goal-setting logistics.
  • Utilize a market-related compensation structure using data our compensation consultant created
  • Administer and maintain the open enrollment process, communication, and tracking and processing of all benefits programs including pension, payroll, and leave
  • Serve as a resource for employees and HR vendors to answer recruitment, benefits, process, program, or other employee relations questions


A Successful Candidate:

  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Good organizational and self-motivational skills
  • Experience with Accounting Software, Payroll Software, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) or Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and MS Office Suite



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline (required)
  • Experience: At least 7 years professional experience in HR Generalist AND at least 2 years of Supervision, preferably in a non-profit and/or healthcare setting
  • Other: Must have reliable transportation.
